Paper Cuts by Laura Faurschou
Danish designer Laura Faurschou has created this gorgeous series of paper cuts called Komposition.
The series is based on her fascination with layers and framework.
Laura explains, “The repetition of the crystalline shapes in the overlapping layers creates a strong perspective illusion and 3-dimensional effect. The intensity of colour in one layer in combination with the muted colours in the others enhances the perspective illusion and guides the observer’s view around the image.”
The compositions consist of three layers of paper and are all cut by hand thus making every image unique.
Laura Faurschou normally works within product and furniture design and the collages were simply an experiment on the side to start out with. However the paper cuts are now available at select design shops in Copenhagen or made to order.
