Scandic Grand Central Hotel by Koncept
Scandic Grand Central hotel in Stockholm saw it’s opening in November 2011.
Designed by Stockholm based firm Koncept, the hotel is housed in a building that dates back from 1885 and is beautifully done up – both keeping the charm of the past as well as embracing contemporary living.
Koncept explains, “In the design of newly opened Scandic Grand Central we created a love affair between a grand Vienna-style city palace and the street life of Stockholm. And suddenly, the forgotten building is one of Stockholms most talked about hotels, with a never failing crowd of visitors to the restaurant, music lovers and nightguests. Under the storyline “the urban theater” we created a constantly changing scene, where the street life is a part of the entertainment. The feel of the hotel is unique and strongly grounded in Stockholm.”
There’s a wonderful use of colours against b/w, new design items against vintage and bold surfaces against graphic intricate patterns. A must visit when next in Stockholm.
