Colour Porcelain by Scholten & Baijings for 1616 Arita
Another high light during this year’s Milan Furniture fair last month, was the dutch duo Scholten & Baijings‘s Colour Porcelain for 1616 Arita.
1616 Arita is one of the oldest japanese porcelain manufacturers dating back to 1616. The distinctive arita porcelain is famous for its high quality and together with Scholten & Baijings a series of 3 collections have been created.
Called Minimal, Colourful and Extraordinary the collections all consist of a comprehensive porcelain service (plates, cups and bowls) as well as serving platters, candle holders, vases and a tea set.
The colours have been chosen after the designers had made an extensive colour research involving historical masterpieces. Especially the traditional japanese colours: aquarelle blue, light green, red-orange and yellow ochre was evident in the research and was therefore used for the contemporary collections.
The porcelain was shown at Spazio Rossana Orlandi.
