The Tongue Chair by Arne Jacobsen
Danish brand Howe have put the classic danish icon The Tongue Chair back into production.
The chair is a petit and humorous little number designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955. It was actually only the second chair Arne Jacobsen got into production – following right after The Ant Chair.
As for many of AJ’s pieces of furniture, The Tongue was originally made for a larger project. This time it was for Munkegårdsskolen, a school situated just north of Copenhagen, where AJ designed everything from the buildings, furniture, lighting and door handles.
The Tongue is now available in a number of veneers, leather and felt textile with chrome or powder coated legs.
