Karaköy Rooms by RunArchitects

Istanbul based architecture practice RunArchitects have designed the beautiful Karaköy Rooms.

Located in Galata Sarap, the 9 room hotel has been designed with attention to the building’s history. The interior is an eclectic mix of eastern decorative elements like the graphic tiles and the more western 60’s modern design furniture, and reminds a bit of the work of other Istanbul based practice Autobahn. There’s a lovely tactile look to the rooms with warm traditional herringbone floors, panelled walls and heavy furniture mixed with shiny metals.

The open sense of space to all private quarters is enhanced with the natural stark white pallet throughout the paneling and walls. The wood decorative detailing is clean cut, symmetrical, linear and present in an ever repetitive form throughout the interiors. The glorious days are referenced albeit discretely;  a discretion that is felt with the grandness of the generosity of space. There is a consistent design language throughout made evident through the various details through patterned floors and bathroom wall tiles, the retention of white throughout, the paneling on all that is apparent and small details like the exposed copper piping.
